A well-established grower/shipper/packer
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and direction through supervisory responsibilities of the Farm Manager team.
  • Work with local Farm Managers to develop personnel plans with a balance of regular and seasonal personnel. Assist with employee recruitment, development, and employee relations, including performance reviews and disciplinary action issues.
  • Ensure crop plans are in place by working with Farm Managers, local agronomists, and regional agronomists. Follow up with the plans reviewing all sources of data and records daily to ensure proper execution.
  • Ensure safety is a top priority by supporting a safe work culture. Provide continuing education of employees and on-site evaluations as necessary. Demonstrate and model safe behaviors yourself.
  • Consult with managers on purchasing needs for fertilizer and chemical and evaluate local suppliers.
  • Maintain a high performance culture and accountability of Incentive initiatives, including communicating and measuring of performance to track progress and ensure objectives are being met.
  • Remains constantly customer focused and serves as the voice of the customer internally as needed. Maintains a knowledge of our customers and their needs and how they are supported throughout the supply chain.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement of the farming operations. Encourage a commitment to excellence and support farming operations in their pursuit of this.
  • Participate as a member of the Director team. Work closely with other Directors of Operations and Department Directors to share resources and support one another.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in agriculture or business related. Master's preferred.
  • 10+ years of Farm Management experience.
  • Field crop experience: preferred: potatoes or other intensely managed crops
  • People management/leadership experience: 7 years of experience leading teams of at least 5 or more employees, preferably in positions of management, agronomic and field operations. Experience managing operations and people remotely preferred.
  • Experience required building and managing a budget, interpreting financial documents.
  • Experience interacting with customers, complying with customer standards, maintaining customer relationship, understanding customer needs
  • Experience being a liaison between the farming operation and customers, headquarters, sales, etc.
  • Technology: ERP, database management, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc. experience. Also understands the value of using ag based technology.
  • Reading, interpreting, being held accountable for employee performance and business metrics.
  • Experience working with cross functional business units/matrixes
